Some craft projects done by some of  our members - patchwork, embroidery, Carrickmacross lace, basket-making and cross-stitch.

ICA Coffee Morning

We recently held a coffee morning and cake sale in aid of The Birches and the Louth Hospice. Just over 1000 euro was raised, which is fantastic in these days of recession. So well done everybody!. And a huge THANK YOU to the people and businesses of Blackrock who supported the event, either by attending, giving a donation, providing a raffle prize or baking. Thank you!

Wednesday meetings

As summer becomes a distant memory, we have settled down to our regular Wednesday get-togethers. Some of our members are learning crochet at the moment, taught by another member.

Three members are involved in patchwork, thanks to tuition given by Els Bernard during the summer. There’s cross-stitching and knitting on the go at the moment as well.

Some members are heading off to An Grianan, Termonfeckin, early in December, to attend a one-day series of talks and demonstrations. The “Christmas Crafts2 session is always very well-attended. No doubt we’ll see new projects being worked on after that course. Enjoy your day, ladies.

The Knitting and Stitching Show is on in Dublin next weekend and many of us are heading down. It’s a fantastic opportunity to buy the latest in wools and fabric etc at good prices. Our purses will definitely be lighter on the way home!
