At the SuperValu National Tidy Towns Awards ceremony held in Croke Park on 6th October 2023, Blackrock received the award for Louth’s Tidiest Town for the 5th consecutive year, and received its 8th Gold Medal. The village increased its marks by 14 and ended up just two points behind the Overall Winner Abbeyleix, and joint 5th nationally. Blackrock was shortlisted with Abbeyleix for the title of Ireland’s Tidiest Small Town, and featured on RTE’s “Nationwide” on the night of the awards ceremony.
