A short ceremony to mark the centenary of the Easter Rising will take place in the village at 4pm on Sunday the 24th of April – the 100th anniversary by date of Easter Monday 1916. A number of people who work in the community in the parish have got together to organise the ceremony. They state that it will be a non-political community event that will include the reading of the proclamation, the raising of the national flag, and an appropriate musical piece, and everyone in the village and the parish is encouraged to come along to be part of this historic occasion.
