As HaggleRock Theatre Group were about to start their first performance of For Better For Worse at the Geraldine’s GAA club-rooms last weekend, they received information regarding an urgent request on face book from the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland who were reaching out for donations to help them travel to the White House in Washington DC to perform for President Barack Obama during the St. Patrick’s week celebrations. On hearing the news, HaggleRock members decided to make a donation from the proceeds of their first night’s performance and presented five hundred euros (€500) the following day to Sharon Treacy-Dunne, Director of Cross Border of Ireland. Sharon thanked HaggleRock Theatre members for their kind generosity at such short notice and wished the group the best of luck in their own three night performances in Haggardstown. HaggleRock Theatre Group Chairman, Patricia Reynolds made the donation on behalf of all the members said ‘We are delighted to help out the CBOI in their hour of nee and are proud that being a local group with many members from Haggardstown/Blackrock community that we were in a position to facilitate them at this time. To receive an invitation from the White House is outstanding, and we wish them the best of luck in representing the island of Ireland’.
