When Nature, Health and Community Thrive Together

Focusing on the importance of physical activity, mental wellbeing, recreation, and healthy lifestyles within the community.

Since its beginnings in 2010, Blackrock Community Park has developed into a thriving community space where health, wellbeing and connection are at the heart of everything it offers. Created and maintained by dedicated Park Volunteers and Blackrock Tidy Towns, the park provides a welcoming environment that encourages people of all ages to enjoy the physical and mental health benefits of spending time outdoors.

Reflecting the goals of SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, the park offers opportunities for recreation, exercise, learning and social interaction in a natural setting. The playground, outdoor exercise area, boules court, picnic spaces, orchard and walking paths encourage active lifestyles, while the Grow Zone and outdoor classroom support wellbeing through engagement with nature.

By bringing people together in a safe, inclusive and biodiverse environment, Blackrock Community Park demonstrates how green spaces can enhance quality of life and strengthen community wellbeing.
