Showcasing how our schools are involved in water awareness and protection.

Through continued participation in the national H2O Heroes programme, the pupils of St. Oliver Plunkett N.S. and St. Francis N.S. are becoming champions for clean water and environmental stewardship. Working alongside Blackrock Tidy Towns and Dundalk Institute of Technology, students explore the journey of water from their school grounds to Dundalk Bay, learning how healthy rivers, wetlands and coastal habitats support both people and nature.

Through a combination of hands-on investigations, citizen science projects and water-quality monitoring, pupils develop a deeper understanding of the importance of protecting our water resources, becoming ambassadors for sustainability and positive environmental action.

Reflecting the goals of SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation, their involvement in the H2O Heroes programme empowers our young people to care for their local environment and recognise that every action, no matter how small, can help create a healthier and more sustainable future for all.
