Nestled along Blackrock’s scenic shoreline, the Priest’s Beach, and the Ladies’ Beach, are two of the village’s most distinctive and peaceful coastal spaces. Located opposite St. Oliver Plunkett Church, they owe their unique character to the sea wall constructed during the 1850s to protect the village from flooding and high tides. As part of this work, a section of the beach was screened by a higher wall, allowing Victorian ladies to bathe in privacy.

 

Today, the beaches remain tranquil retreats where visitors can enjoy spectacular views across Dundalk Bay, quiet walks and moments of reflection by the sea. The Priest’s Beach in particular has also become a popular venue for outdoor wellness activities, including beach yoga and mindful movement sessions that celebrate the restorative connection between nature, health and community.
